Obeying The Authority Government

Christians tend to misunderstand the teaching and instruction found
in the Bible regarding obeying authority - emphasis added to illustrate
essence:
HEB 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They
keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey
them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would
be of no advantage to you.
RO 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing
authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has
established. The authorities that exist have been established by
God. [2] Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is
rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will
bring judgment on themselves. [3] For rulers hold no terror for
those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to
be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right
and he will commend you. [4] For he is God's servant to do you
good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the
sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to
bring punishment on the wrongdoer. [5] Therefore, it is
necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible
punishment but also because of conscience.
RO 13:6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are
God's servants, who give their full time to governing. [7] Give
everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue,
then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Christians often take the above verses as instruction from God to
obey everything anyone in 'authority' attempts to enforce on them.
However, there is no such instruction to obey what is wrong or
unrighteous. To the contrary the Bible is full of instruction and
examples of standing against 'authority' that is in the wrong.
What after all, is authority? If someone in a government position
is a law breaker they stand in their position and act without the
authority of the law. For it is the law which gives the power to
authority. And when people make so-called laws that violate the
core law, then those so-called laws are lawless, they are
void and the person in
government attempting to enforce them does so without authority.
JN 2:13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus
went up to Jerusalem. [14] In the temple courts he found men selling
cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging
money. [15] So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from
the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of
the money changers and overturned their tables. [16] To those
who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my
Father's house into a market!"
AC 5:27 Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before
the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. [28] "We gave
you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you
have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make
us guilty of this man's blood."
AC 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God
rather than men!
AC 4:18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to
speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. [19] But Peter and John
replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight
to obey you rather than God. [20] For we cannot help speaking
about what we have seen and heard."
EPH 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
[11] Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand
against the devil's schemes. [12] For our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark world and
against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
[13] Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of
evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have
done everything, to stand. [14] Stand firm then, with the belt of
truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, [15] and with your feet fitted with the
readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. [16] In addition to
all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish
all the flaming arrows of the evil one. [17] Take the helmet of
salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
[18] And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of
prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on
praying for all the saints.
Hundreds of similar references of disobeying earthly authority can be
found in the Bible. There is no construct to obey that which is
wrong or unlawful. If the highest authority of law in the land
says that you are free to practice religion then no lesser law or
authority can tell you that you can't practice religion in school.
Similarly no authority can tell you that you cannot pray in school or
any public place since prayer is speech and we have freedom of speech.
If the highest law of the land which overrules all lesser laws says that
you can for example bare arms, then until that higher law is changed no
authority or lower law can force you into not
baring arms.
Government authorities are under the
authority of law. When government authorities break the law, they
loose their legal authority. In such instances, as Christians, it
is your duty to obey the authority of law and above anyone else to hold
these criminals who are breaking the law of the land accountable.
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring
peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." Mathew
10:34
"He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a
bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
It is written: `And he was numbered with the transgressors' ; and I tell
you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is
reaching its fulfillment.
The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough,"
he replied." Luke 22:36-38
"Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high
priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant's name was
Malchus.). Jesus commanded Peter, "Put your sword away! Shall I
not drink the cup the Father has given me?"" John 18:10, 11
"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who
draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call
on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve
legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled
that say it must happen in this way?" Mathew 26:52-54
George W. Bush has not only murdered in
cold blood many of his fellow citizens, he has caused the excruciating
death of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of other innocent
people around the world. There is no legal authority for the
Executive Branch to make law. By issuing Executive Orders, Bush
like his predecessors over the last 100 years has committed treason.
Why does Bush not expose the criminal nature of the
Federal Reserve Bank
who controls our government? Are you aware that Bush is a member
of a cult that worships satan?
As a Christian, are you called to obey satan?
Biblically, the essence of the law is summed up in the following:
RO 2:12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart
from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the
law. [13] For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in
God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared
righteous. [14] (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do
by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves,
even though they do not have the law, [15] since they show that
the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their
consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing,
now even defending them.) [16] This will take place on the day when
God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel
declares.
Do what is right, oppose what is wrong. By their fruits you will
know them:
